THE VICTIMS OF RAPE HAVE MANY FACES. Recent studies show that rape is still all too prevalent. Somewhere in America, a woman is raped every 2 minutes. By the age of 18, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be victimized. In fact, you are most likely to be raped by someone you know: a friend, an acquaintance, a relative or even the neighbor next door. ACASV endeavors to continually improve the treatment of sexual violence survivors and to ultimately end sexual violence. Specifically, ACASV works:
- To improve treatment of and services to sexual assault victims
- To increase the reporting of sexual assaults To increase public awareness of sexual assault
- To improve investigation and prosecution of sexual assault
